Seoul took the same action today, Wednesday (2nd November), three hours after the launch of a rocket by North Korea that landed less than 60 kilometers from the city of Sokcho in the south of this country.
South Korea’s military said it was an ‘unacceptable’ violation of its territory.
In response, South Korea fired three rockets that landed at a similar distance on the North Korean border, according to officials.
North Korea warned on Tuesday that South Korea and the United States would pay ‘the most terrible price in history’ if they continue joint military exercises seen as a veiled threat to use nuclear weapons.
North Korea is expected to resume nuclear weapons tests soon after a five-year hiatus after US and South Korean intelligence said Pyongyang had completed all necessary preparations.
