Indian media, citing government officials, reported that the bridge collapsed when about 400 people were praying on it.

Dozens of people have also been injured in this incident and 17 of them are in critical health condition as reported.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was present in Gujarat at the time of the incident, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and ordered the immediate mobilization of aid groups.

It should be mentioned that this bridge was built over the Gujarat Sea during the British colonial period and it was reopened for public traffic about five days ago after restoration.
