The Ministry of Defense has announced that they will investigate the videos of torture and shooting of prisoners of war that have been published on social media, and if the case is proven, the perpetrators will be brought to justice. Publishing these videos has brought reactions inside and outside the country.

At the same time, a number of political affairs experts say that, if the Ministry of Defense fulfills its promise, it will be a good move.

This news was published on the Ministry of Defense’s Twitter account on Saturday (17 September), in which it was said that: “The truth of the videos of shooting prisoners of war in Panjshir will be seriously investigated”.

Inayatullah Kharazmi, the spokesperson of the ministry, says that if the case is true, the perpetrators will be handed over to the law.

Videos posted on social media show that prisoners of war are being shot in Panjshir.

These videos have brought reactions inside and outside the country. As stated in the announcement of the Vienna meeting, the United Nations and human rights foundations must cooperate with the people of Afghanistan in achieving justice and document crimes against humanity.

On the other hand, in response to these videos, Amnesty International said that their research shows that the published videos are new.

At the same time, some political affairs experts consider the Ministry of Defense’s promise to review the videos of prisoners of war as a good step.”

Ghulam Yahya Chavosh, one of the political experts, told Killid: “Allegations of human rights violation regarding the published videos, should be followed up and it should be found out when these videos are captured.”

Emphasizing the fair follow-up of this case, he also added that: “It is good that not only the Ministry of Defense’s investigation board but also neutral and international organizations should be present during the investigations”.

At the same time, Hamidalah Hotak, another political expert, told to Killid: “This is a universal law, it is illegal for prisoners of war to be killed after being captured, and this is against Islam. The elders of Panjshir and the Islamic Emirate should solve the problem through dialogue”.

On the other hand, Ishaq Atmar, another political expert, expresses hope that the Islamic Emirate will reduce the gap between the government and the people by seriously investigating and pursuing this case.

“One year was a good opportunity for the government to solve internal problems, especially with opposition groups.”

In recent days, social media users have been sharing videos that show a number of prisoners of war being shot in Panjshir.
