However, the officials of the National Statistics and Information Authority confirmed this problem and say that electronic ID cards will be printed soon.

Saif al-Rahman, a resident of Badakhshan province and one of the applicants for an electronic ID card, says that he has been going to get an electric ID card for some time, but he returns home empty-handed.

“It’s been more than a month since we applied for an electronic ID card, we also got biometrics, but when we go to get an ID card, they told us that the raw materials have run out and you have to wait.”

Feraidon, a resident of Kabul who came to one of ID cards’ distribution centers to receive an electronic identification card, makes such a complaint: “It’s been a week that I have been coming and going to this center to get the Tazkira, but they are claiming that the raw materials for the Tazkira have been run out. I have to take my patient out of the country, I wonder what to do. This is a big problem”.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Halim Raafe, the spokesperson of the Statistics and Information Department, confirms that this department is facing, a lack of raw materials.”Yes, there are some technical problems in Kabul and other provinces. We are facing with lack of ID cards, but in this regard, we have signed a contract, so the process of printing ID cards will begin soon after receiving the raw materials from abroad”.

According to statistics provided by the Department of Statistics and Information, electronic ID cards have been distributed to more than 8 million people.
