At the same time, the officials in the Nimroz Information and Culture Directorate insist on the support of the international community to the health sector in Afghanistan, they say that the coming of winter will increase the problems of drug addicts.

Every year, many young Afghans fall into the trap of drug addiction due to unemployment and economic problems.

Some drug addicts say that their life problems have unintentionally led them to drugs.
Khajah, one of the drug addicts, says that the addiction has caused him many problems.

‘The addict needs love, caress and respect to quit his act, he needs medical help, he can’t quit at home or on the streets. It used to be good, there were clinics for addicts, drugs for addicts, and medical help through camps de-addiction was given.’

He asks the Islamic Emirate to help addicts by providing treatment centers so that they can quit their addiction.

On the other hand, some residents of Zaranj city the capital of Nimroz province says that many drug addicts have moved to this city from Iran.

By criticizing the lack of treatment centers for drug addicts in this city, they are worried about the increase of drug addicts.

Soraya Amini, one of the residents of Nimroz, says that the increase in drug addicts can be a big problem in society because they cause the spread of various diseases in society.

‘Addicts are patients who can pose serious risks to a society, including the transmission of dangerous diseases, such as AIDS, black jaundice, etc., because they use dangerous injections in an unhygienic way.’

Soraya asks the health authorities to take serious measures related to collecting the drug addicts and their treatment and to reactivate drug addiction camps with more facilities.

Residents of this province say that the number of drug addicts has increased in this province.
Baz Mohammad, one of the civil society activists of Nimroz Province, emphasizes that until now no attention has been paid by the authorities to solve this problem.
‘Unfortunately, the number of drug addicts has increased in Nimroz province, and the camp for drug addicts, which was the only treatment center for drug addicts, is currently closed.

Drugs are also sold freely, and no attention is paid to this issue by government officials. Many addicts are seen in every corner.’

He asks government officials to stop the sale of drugs and activate the treatment camp for drug addicts.

He expresses concern that many young people in society are facing unemployment and there is a risk of them turning to this phenomenon.

Some doctors have described the increase in the number of drug addicts and the lack of treatment centers in society as very dangerous and they ask the current government to pay serious attention to this issue.

Dr. Reshad Ahmadi says: ‘The field of de-addiction should be provided for drug addicts, but unfortunately, recently the field of de-addiction is not provided for these people.

The reason for this could be the closure of clinics treating drug addicts.’

Dr. Reshad Ahmadi added that if we want to have a healthy society and family, we must prevent people from becoming addicted to drugs, and people who are addicted must also be collected.

However, the officials of the Islamic Emirate insist on the international community’s support for the health sector in Afghanistan and say that the coming of winter will increase the problems of drug addicts.

Mawlawi Elham, Nimroz information and cultural department’s officer, says: ‘The most important diseases occur in winter and summer and should be paid attention to by the health sector because people need health.’

We tried to get an answer from the health authorities in this regard, but after repeated calls, we failed to do so.
It should be mentioned that the Islamic Emirate has banned the cultivation, smuggling, and use of any kind of drugs, and drug addicts have been collected from a number of cities such as Kabul, Mazar-e-Sharif, Herat, and some other cities and transferred to treatment camps.
