Qatar’s FM Urges Gulf Arab Countries to Negotiate with Iran

In an interview with Bloomberg TV, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Qatar’s Foreign Minister, said that his country has urged nations in the Gulf Arab to enter negotiations with Iran.

Qatari Foreign Minister Al-Thani told the Bloomberg TV that it was the right time for Doha to broker negotiations between Iran and South Korea

“This is also a desire that’s shared by other GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries,” he told Bloomberg TV in an interview.

The Qatari foreign minister added that government of Qatar was supporting ongoing discussions between Iran and South Korea to secure the release of an oil tanker which was seized by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard earlier on January 4.

Following the seizure, South Korea on mid-January asked Qatar for its support to secure the release of the oil tanker.
