Doha Talks Yet to Bear Fruit as Result

The controversial Doha talks has been tagged as critical as the US special Envoy and the Taliban delegations started negotiations on Afghan Peace process, entering the second day since the official beginning on February 26.
As both parties held talks discussing sustainable peace in Afghanistan, the give-and-take on a precise timetable for withdrawing US troop from Afghanistan, and necessary steps ensuring Taliban’s disconnection from other terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda and Daesh remain undecided.
Some Reports says, the Taliban’s insistence on determining a timetable for US troops withdrawal; from other hand, United States persistence on the declaration of a cease-fire and group’s direct engagement with the Afghan government, have been hot topics escalating tensions during talks in Doha.
Meanwhile, a member of government’s negotiating team Abdul Hakim Munib exclaimed these negotiations will not come up to a conclusion unless the group held a direct talk with Afghan government.
“These talks will not yield any result without the engagement of the Afghan government; therefore, Afghans need to sit together,” said Munib.
However, the complexity of Doha talks should come up to a conclusion, marking some progressive steps towards the Afghan peace process. The outcome of the meeting is expected by Thursday.
“Today, from early morning, the working groups worked on two topics which include the withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan and the assurance that no threat will be staged from Afghanistan’s territory against other countries,” said Wahid Muzhdah, a political affairs analyst in Kabul. “The working groups will present the outcome of their work on Thursday to the general meeting where it will take the shape of a draft and will be announced then.”
Main topics are, withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan, comprehensive ceasefire, releasing Taliban prisoners, and direct talks between the Afghan government.
