UNAMA: More Than 200 Cases of Violations of Journalists’ Rights Have Been Registered in Afghanistan

The Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) says that since August 2021, more than 200 cases of violations of journalists’ rights have been registered in the country.

UNAMA, in a tweet marking the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists, said that during this period, journalists faced arbitrary detention, mistreatment, and threats.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has emphasized that media workers should be respected.

This is despite the fact that according to the information of Antonio Guterres; Secretary General of the United Nations, during this year, more than 70 journalists have been killed in different parts of the world.

He has emphasized in a tweet that the common culture of impunity must end.
