The Taliban fighters attacked last night on an outpost of the uprising forces in the northern Balkh province’s Balkh district, leaving six of the local militia fighters killed and one injured, said Munir Ahmad Farhad, a spokesman for the provincial governor.
Heavy casualties were brought to the armed group, said Mr. Farhad without specifying the number of militants killed during the clash.
In another incident, meanwhile, the 209th Shaheen Corps reported the death of eight Taliban insurgents in Dawlat Abad district of the province when their attack was thwarted by Afghan forces, triggering clashes with the group.
Another five fighters of the group were critically injured during the clash, the corps continued.
The armed group, however, is yet to comment.
