Bagram – At least three United State service members and a contractor were killed, by an improvised explosive device near Bagram Airbase Monday – three further members injured, the Resolute Support confirmed in a statement.
Wounded members, after the incident, were landed in hospital and are now receiving medical care.
According to US Department of Defense policy, the name of the service members killed in action are being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete, the statement read.
Bagram district governor Abdul Shakoor Qudoosi said the attack was carried out by an explosive-laden vehicle, according to sources.
Taliban in a statement claimed responsibility of the attack, adding “suicide attacker destroyed two tanks and killed over 10 US military servicemen”.
Meanwhile, the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in a tweet condemned the attack and called it “disgusting terrorist act”.
