On the other hand, local authorities say they will take legal action against those who do not give women their rights and force them.
One of the residents of Helmand province, who introduces herself as Zahra, says that she is a victim of family violence and bad customs. This woman while remembering all the scenes of her life says:
(My husband was an addict, he kept me up until the morning, did not feed me, beat me, and was very cruel to me).
Zahra has other bitter memories of the tragedy of their life together. She says that she was abused as a child, and in addition to various physical tortures, they also used electric shocks against her.
After the death of her husband, while facing poverty and severe economic problems, Zahra takes care of her two children.
(Now that I am freed from his oppression, my orphans are freed. But now my brother-in-law does not let me go outside the house.)
Homiara is another resident of Helmand who lamented the terrible situation of women.
She says that women have not been given the right to inherit in the past 20 years, and sometimes girls are married off to older men when they are children: it is known that in the remote areas and districts of this province, women and girls are deprived of all their rights, and women suffer a lot from this situation.)
Legal experts and activists also say that women are deprived of their basic rights in some areas.
Hafiz Ahmad Nusrat, a legal expert in Lashkargah city, says: (Most women in this province are in a bad situation, people here do not have mercy on women. Bad customs and cultural problems are what continue in this province).
The religious scholar Maulavi Abdulwali Khadim then states that the oppression of women is forbidden in Islam and says: Women should not be victims of bad customs.
On the other hand, Maulavi Mohammad Qasim Riaz, Deputy Director of Information and Culture of Helmand province, admits that women in this province and some other provinces are victims of bad customs. He says that the Islamic Emirate has planned to prevent these actions and anyone who unjustly oppresses women will be dealt with legally, those who oppress women should be punished.
It is worth mentioning that not only in Helmand, but also in some other provinces of the country, women are victims of local traditions, and there is no significant decrease in this matter.
