What the Afghan government believes is that following the agreement inked between the United States and the Taliban, the group has not reduced violence but instead ramped it up drastically.

Earlier, the National Security Adviser Hamdullah Mohib made the remarks that this winter was bloodier compared to the past, and the Taliban group is behind 98% of it.

The U.S. new administration under President Biden, however, has announced it reviews the peace agreement that then-President Donald Trump signed with the Taliban February last year.

Political analysts believe the Biden administration has affected the articles of the agreement.

Sayed Nasir Mosawi, Kabul-based political analyst, said it seems impossible for the Doha talks to resume unless the United States’ policy becomes clear.

Farid Silani, another expert in political affairs, said the resumption of peace negotiations has become impossible and even the United States is willing for the restart of talks.

The Taliban does not look to the United States anymore.

American soldiers suffered no deaths in Afghanistan in almost a year following the U.S.-Taliban peace deal. Afghan forces and civilians, however, suffered heavy casualties during this period.
