India-China Deadly Clash: Afghanistan Believes Standoff Harms Regional, Global Peace and Stability

The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over the latest clashes between India and China in Ladakh area, saying a continued dispute between the neighboring countries harms “regional and global peace and stability,” read a statement by the foreign ministry.

“We believe the consequences of the occurrence of such incidents are not in the interest of regional and global peace and stability,” the statement said.

The ministry also offered sympathy for the human and financial losses in the deadly clash in Ladakh, expressing hopes the two countries solve their differences through dialogue.

Armed clashes between Indian and Chinese troops along the two countries’ disputed border took place on Monday night last week, leaving 20 Indian soldiers killed and more than 70 of its troops injured. China, however, didn’t release reports of casualties.

The announcement of troops casualties was the first deaths in four decades of the dispute between two countries, with India accusing Chinese troops of breaching an agreement signed weeks before to respect the Line of Actual Control.
