President Trump has announced that he was immediately ending U.S. membership in the World Health Organization (WHO) over its response to China’s handling of the coronavirus.

Addressing to media, Trump said on Friday, “We will be today terminating our relationship with the World Health Organization and redirecting those funds to other worldwide and deserving urgent global public health needs.”

However, the U.S. Speaker Nancy Pelosi called President Trump’s decision “senseless.”

“The President’s withdrawal from @WHO as it leads the fight against COVID-19 is an act of extraordinary senselessness. Again and again, he blames others and refuses to take responsibility. Only with a coordinated global response will we defeat this virus,” Pelosi tweeted.

Earlier this month, Mr. Trump announced that he was cutting off U.S. funding to the United Nations’ World Health Organization (WHO).
