23 April (The Killid Group) — The President of the United States and the Pakistani Prime Minister held telephone conversation on Wednesday to discuss the U.S.-led effort to bring peace to Afghanistan.
According to separate statements issued by the White House and Islamabad, the U.S. President Donald Trump and the Pakistan PM Minister Imran Khan in a telephone conversation discussed the regional issues, including efforts to bring peace to Afghanistan.
The Pakistani. PM Imran Khan assured President Trump of his full support in a peaceful political settlement in Afghanistan. He said that Pakistan is ready to facilitate the Afghan peace process and stressed the need for early commencement of intra-Afghan dialogues.
President Trump appreciated PM Khan’s telephone call and has expressed hope for the start of infra-Afghan peace negotiations.
Direct talks between the Taliban and an Afghan negotiating team that will include top government officials were scheduled to take place after the United States concluded its own agreement with the group, but have been delayed due to several reasons.
