US has announced that it is currently evaluating the response from Hamas to the ceasefire proposal in Gaza. Osama Hamdan, one of the leaders of Hamas, mentioned in an interview with an Arab news network that the group is positively interacting with all proposed ideas for a ceasefire in Gaza. However, Israel stresses on continuing the war in Gaza and asserts that they will annihilate the Hamas group in Palestine.

Following the approval of the ceasefire plan in Gaza, John Kirby, spokesperson and strategic communications coordinator for the National Security Council at the White House, revealed that they have received a formal and positive response from the Hamas group and stated that The US is currently reviewing it.

“We have received the official message from Hamas regarding President Biden’s peace plan, which has been approved by the UN Security Council, and we are examining and evaluating this response,” Kirby said during his remarks to reporters.

Kirby added that US would soon respond to Hamas on this matter. Meanwhile, Osama Hamdan, one of the leaders of Hamas, expressed in an interview with an Arab news network that their group is willing to engage with all proposed ideas for a ceasefire in Gaza.

“We are advocating for a permanent ceasefire and are ready for a fair agreement for the exchange of prisoners. The approved resolution by the Security Council emphasizes a complete cessation of war and withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza,” Hamdan stated.

However, some Israeli officials emphasize on continuing the war and complete destruction of the Hamas group in Gaza. Daniel Levy, former senior negotiator for Israel, stated that the conflict in Gaza would continue even if US said otherwise.

Efforts for establishing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip are underway while, according to Palestinian Ministry of Health statistics, 40 people have been killed and another 120 injured in the past 24 hours alone. With these figures taken into account, the death toll since October 7, 2023, has reached 37,164 individuals with 84,832 others wounded.
