Officials Reopen Salang Highway for Traffic

PARWAN (The Killid Group) – The Salang Highway that faced an immediate closure after seasonal downpours flooded in Jab ul-Saraj district of the central province, is reopened for transportation vehicles only, local authorities said.

PARWAN (The Killid Group) – The Salang Highway that faced an immediate closure after seasonal downpours flooded in Jab ul-Saraj district of the central province, is reopened for transportation vehicles only, local authorities said.

Wahida Shahkar, spokesman for the Parwan Governor, told The Killid Salang route that was halted for traffic due to heavy rains and flash floods, is reopened for only transportation vehicles around 9pm on Monday.

The paramedics and emergency department personnel have been dispatched to flood-prone areas to investigate the extent of the damage residents suffered.

On Monday, the Salang Highway faced an immediate closure after seasonal downpours flooded in Jab ul-Saraj district of the central province.

Wahida Shahkar, spokesman for Parwan Governor, told The Killid floods mostly hit Gulbahar and some surrounding areas of the district, and there is no details yet on number of casualties or victims inflicted by the flood.

Due to stone fall and mudslides from up hills down the road, the main highway has been halted for traffic, she added.

Efforts underway to clear areas and re-open the road for traffic.

Meanwhile, residents said at least two people suffered injuries during the flood, as well as caused heavy substantial loss to the locals.
