Security Cordon Extends in Uruzgan

Security officials said that security cordon area has increased 5 km in Chora district of Uruzgan province. According to Gen. Rahmatullah Sediqi, chief of Uruzgan police, security forces have made considerable progress in all districts and recaptured most of the areas in Chora district from Taleban. He further stated that most of the areas in Dahro district have been cleared of Taleban insurgents. Taleban have not commented on the government statement so far. Uruzgan is a disturbed province in the west of the country. Afghan security forces launched military operation against Taleban just a month ago in the centre and districts, but reports reveal that Taleban militants are actively operating 4 km from provincial capital, Trin Kot. Meanwhile the roads between the centre and six districts of Uruzgan are closed and people can only travel through Kandahar- Trin Kot to Uruzgan.
