The situation in Afghanistan is top of the agenda in today’s NATO foreign ministers meeting in the Belgian capital, Brussels. NATO officials said that foreign ministers from 28 countries would review Afghanistan’s political and security situation. Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani on Tuesday left Kabul for Brussels. NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said yesterday that member countries would reaffirm their long-term commitment to Afghanistan’s reform. He also reiterated support depends upon reforms by the Afghan government. Afghanistan’s international allies want the government to fight corruption, bring reforms, protect human rights, and show effective and comprehensive efforts to end violence against women. US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Belgium late yesterday to attend the NATO meeting.
