Local officials said the patrol was targeted by a suicide bomber in Bagram. The incident happened around 9 pm last night near the Bagram airport gate. According to Wahid Sidiqi, spokesperson for the governor, a man driving a Corolla car targeted the patrol. General Charles Cleveland, deputy chief of staff for the US-led mission in Afghanistan, said two American soldiers were “injured lightly”. Taleban fighters have claimed responsibility for the attack. Taleban spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahed, said, “Twelve American soldiers were killed in the blast and two of their vehicles were also destroyed.” However, a NATO spokesperson in Afghanistan has rejected the claim.
