Daudzai: Women to Make 30 Percent of Loye Jirga

President Ghani’s Special Representative Mohammad Umer Daudzai said on Monday women will make 30 percent of the Loye Jirga, while briefing media on upcoming Assembly.
About 2,000 delegates representing different sectors of Afghan society will attend the Consultative Loye Jirga (Grand National Assembly), in which women will make 30 percent, said Daudzai reiterating that the assembly will be all-inclusive.
The main goal of the Jirga is to create a national consensus on a lasting peace, he added. In addition to determine the red lines for peace and values based on which a comprehensive and lasting peace will be established in the country.
“There is an international consensus about ensuring a sustainable peace in Afghanistan,” he reiterated.
Daudzai exclaimed that Afghan from different provinces and various sectors will be part of Jirga, playing active role on peace process while considering achievements of the past 18 years.
According to the High Peace Council, it is more likely that the US in coordination with the Afghan government will ask the Taliban in Qatar talks to send a delegation for attend Kabul Jirga.
The Consultative Loye Jirga is initiated by President Ashraf Ghani amid fostering a consensus at the national level, especially among the Afghan politician and Public figures for peace with Taliban.
Ghani has appointed his Special Representative on Regional Affairs Umer Daudzai to organize the event which is due in March.
