Candidates’ Registration Process Kicks off Today

The registration process of candidates for October 20th Wolesi Jirga and District Council’s elections will officially begin today across the country.
Maazullah Dawlati, deputy head of the Independent Election Commission (IEC), said individual wants to contest the upcoming lower house or District Council’s election can refer to one of the registration centres in Kabul or provinces.
“Forms for the registration of candidates had been already prepared, the process of registration and eligibility criteria already existed on the website of the commission,” he said.
Dawlati said people want to contest the upcoming polls could register their names onward from May 26 till June 22.He said symbols for the candidates would be decided on the bases of draw.
He said election signs for the candidates would be decided through the process of draw. The lower house has 250 seats, 239 has been divided among the provinces while 10 seats have been allocated for Khochis.
