Today (15th February) coincides with the 34th anniversary of the withdrawal of former Soviet forces from Afghanistan.

Thirty-Four Years Have Passed Since the Withdrawal of Soviet Troops from Afghanistan

These forces entered Afghanistan in 1979, but in 1989 they left the country after suffering heavy casualties and huge financial losses.

According to reports, during these years more than one million Afghans were killed, thousands were disabled and millions were forced to migrate.

Many experts believe that the defeat of the former Soviet Union in Afghanistan paved the way for the collapse of this alliance and the formation of independent Central Asian countries.
