This resident of Nimroz also added that many families have to use the river water due to lack of access to safe drinking water; According to health experts, the water is polluted and unhealthy and causes various diseases.
In addition, these families use this water for washing clothes, dishes, and other purposes.
At the same time, Shabnam, another resident of Nimroz province, says that safe drinking water is not available in this province, so people have to use river water, whether it is clean or dirty.
Shabnam further said: “I should say that we do not have suitable and usable water. The water of Nimroz Rivers is full of insects and pollution.
“Mineral or purified water is also very expensive and a ten-liter bottle is sold from fifty to sixty Afghanis.”
This resident of Nimroz is asking, why the government does not pay attention to the drinking water issues of the people?
He emphasizes that clean water should be provided through piping for the areas that are facing the problem of lack of safe drinking water.
On the other hand, some residents of Nimroz express their concern about the rising price of purified water.
Amina, one of the women activists in this province, says: “Even though water is one of the vital needs of humans, we are facing many problems in the field of drinking water today. We cannot get clean mineral water easily. How long should we face this problem? For many years, the water of Zaranj cannot be used, people use salty and polluted river water.
However, Mawlavi Ehsanullah Ehsan, the head of the Zaranj city water supply department, says that the water supply department has done effective work in this province in the past one year.
He talks about the drilling of several drinking water wells in this province, which have been provided to the citizens of Nimiroz province.
Mawlavi Ehsan added: “The drinking water problems of Zaranj city are known to us, the center of Zaranj is facing water shortage. The water supply department’s team is trying to facilitate people’s access to water.
He also said that not long ago, making a solar energy supply system and digging wells in the Qalaye Fatah area, worth 600,000 US dollars, has started and will be completed soon, which will bring many conveniences to the citizens of Nimroz.
Mawlavi Ehsan also added that the price control department will also try to decrease the price of purified water.
Despite the fact that Nimroz has a large water dam, the residents of this province have been facing the problem of drinking water shortage for years and the governments have not done any significant work in the field of strengthening the water supply system and solving the problems of the residents of this province.
