Helmand Province: Arranging local Educational Classes for Children in Marja District

Mawlavi Mohammad Ewaz Ansari, the head of education in this province, tells Killid: “These local classes were built for boys and girls with the cooperation of the AREP Institute. In the Tarikh Nawar area in the Marjah district of Helmand province, due to the 20 years of wars, education was not equal, and now we have been able to provide education to hundreds of students by building local Classes”.

On the other hand, a large number of local residents welcome this action of the Department of Education and say that the 20-year wars took the learning opportunity from their children.

Voxpop: “Building local Class is a positive action by the government. Before this, none of the boys or girls went to school, and now hundreds of children are studying in this school. We ask the government to increase the number of these guilds.”

Meanwhile, a number of students who study in these Classes say that they have been able to learn many things in a very short time.

Voxpop: “Now I have learned to read and write, I can now read the Holy Quran, Pashto, and many other books.”

On the other hand, a number of teachers who are teaching in these classes, ask the families to encourage their children to study.

They also emphasized that there are not enough classrooms and they requested the government to build more classrooms.

“Those who did not allow their children to study, now bring their children and register.”

It should be mentioned that the financial cost of these local Classes has been paid by AREP and so far it has built 105 local Classes in this province.

Sayed Mohammad Sadat, the head of this organization, in an interview with Killid said: “AREP has built 105 local classes in Marjah district of Helmand province, of which 65 classes are for boys and 40 classes are for girls”.

It should be mentioned that the 20 years of civil wars in Helmand Province were a big obstacle to children’s education, and now they have study opportunities again.
