According to an announcement of this department, Shahram Poursafi, also known as Mehdi Rezaei, has asked an US citizen to kill Bolton in exchange for 300,000 US dollars.
According to the announcement, the assassination of the former National Security Adviser of the White House was planned in order to avenge the murder of Qassem Soleimani, the former commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Qassem Soleimani was killed in a US airstrike in Iraq in 2020.
It should be mentioned that John Bolton was against Iran’s 2015 nuclear agreement with world powers and supported the withdrawal of US from this agreement.
