Azizullah Fazli, chair of Afghanistan’s Cricket Board, said the board would clearly outline how this would happen.
“We will give you our clear position on how we will allow women to play cricket,” he told Australian broadcaster SBS late on Friday.
“Very soon, we will give you good news on how we will proceed.”
Mr. Fazli added that all 25 of the women’s cricket team have remained in Afghanistan and chosen not to leave on evacuation flights.
It follows the Taliban announcement to ban women from playing sport, including cricket.
Deputy for the Taliban’s cultural commission Ahmadullah Wasiq told the same broadcaster on Wednesday that it was “not necessary” for women to play sport.
