Car Bomb Attack in Northern Afghanistan Injures Dozens  

Today morning around 9:00am, a vehicle loaded with explosives blew up near a Special Forces’ unit in Balkh district of the northern Balkh province, leaving one of these forces killed and another six injured, Hanif Rezaiee, a spokesman for the 209th Shaheen Army Corps said.

It was the initial reports, Mr. Rezaiee said, toll of casualties could rise.

The Afghan Ministry of Defense, however, put the toll of casualties to three killed – two civilians and a member of Special Forces.

According to the ministry’s report, at least 14 civilians were also wounded in the explosion.

No armed group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but later Zabihullah Mujahed, a Taliban’s spokesperson said the group was behind.
