April 27 (The Killid Group) — The Afghan acting defense minister Asadullah Khalid and the U.S. and Resolute Support (RS) forces commander Gen. Scott Miller visited the northern Balkh province.
In their visit, the Afghan and U.S. senior officials met with coalition and the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANDSF) leaders in the northern Balkh province to discuss security operations—including the Taliban’s ongoing assaults across the country, a spokesman for the U.S. forces Col. Sonny Leggett took to Twitter.
According to the USFOR-A spokesperson, the U.S. forces are committed to continue supporting ANDSF and will work with them.
The visit comes as the Taliban have been ramping up their dead-dealing attacks on the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANDSF) across the country.
The insurgents have by far rejected calls for a reduction in violence and pointed out that a full implementation of a long-awaited peace accord signed between the United States and the group would lead to the start of intra-Afghan peace talks and to a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in the country.
