TAKHAR (The Killid Group) – A Taliban commander killed in an operation by Afghan security forces and Resolute Support in northern province of Takhar, the Ministry of Interior Affairs said in a statement.
According to the statement released Monday, during the operation in Kohna (old) city of Yange Qala, several villages have been cleared of Taliban insurgents and a team leader, including a number of his members, were killed.
Six further Taliban wounded during clashes, statement read.
The Taliban are taking shelters at local residences, while forces extend precautionary measures to prevent civilian casualties in the area.
Taliban immediately did not comment on the incident.
Afghan security forces are deployed in the province after the Taliban insurgents gained control over at least two districts, Yang-e-Qala and Darqad, early this month.
