FARYAB (The Killid Group) – The Counter Narcotics Police of Afghanistan in an operation discovered and halted a liquor factory in northwestern province of Faryab, local authorities said.
Karim Yourish, spokesman for Fayab police, told The Killid that Wednesday afternoon, the CNPA discovered and halted a liquor factory in Faryab province, as officials seized some 495 liters of castrated and dampened raisins, 11 liters of alcoholic beverages and an alcoholic beverage machine.
Officials nab the owner of the factory, in which he as has been producing alcoholic beverages in the province.
The production and consumption of alcoholic beverages, especially wine, in Afghanistan is prohibited for Afghan nationals. The government, however, provides a license for various outlets to distribute alcoholic beverages to foreign journalists and tourists, and black market for alcohol consumption is prevalent as well.
