HERAT (The Killid Group) – At least 100 Taliban insurgents bore casualties during clashes with Afghan security forces in Herat province, local authorities said.

Aminullah Amarkhail, local police commander, told The Killid, “last night [Wednesday], the Taliban carried attack from nearing provinces, including Helmand, agains Oba district of Herat in an attempt to gain control over the district.”

“At least 40 Taliban killed in Oba district as Afghan National Defense and Security Forces carried airstrikes against the group,” he added. Further 13 Taliban injured, whose arms and ammunition remain in the battlefield.

Meanwhile, one force killed and further three wounded, according to Amarkhail.

In last couple of days, at least 40 Taliban killed in Rubat Sangi, Gulran and Ghoriyan districts of the province, he said.

Mullah Esmatullah, Mullah Nabi Jan, Mullah Sayed Agha, Mullah Aminullah, Mullah Karim and Mullah Ibrahim known as Bahir were some key Taliban commanders killed during clashes.

Taliban did not comment on the incident.
