BAGHLAN (The Killid Group) Afghan National and Defense Special Force launched mopping-up operations in Pul-e-Khumri city of Bghlan province Tuesday night, which is under the Taliban attack for days now.

Air support is included in the operations to back up ground forces in the site, according to local officials.

However some sources said “there is no significant progress” in forces’ operations, as the roads connecting to the main city are closed since the beginning of clashes on Sunday. The Taliban light up at least four security check posts in the city.

Residents stood up armed to extend support to the local forces in fight against the Taliban.

Hundreds of passengers are stranded on both sides of the city, which in South connects Baghlan to Kabul and other central provinces, while Balkh and Kunduz in north and northeastern Afghanistan.

The main highway that connects Kabul with Northern Provinces via Pul-e-Khumri remained close to traffic due to the clashes over the past four days.
