KABUL (The Killid Group) – At least 16 people were killed and further 119 – mostly civilians – were wounded after a truck full of explosives went off in East Kabul Monday evening, marking a second huge blow since beginning of the year in Green Village of Afghan capital.

The blast jolted capital city at around 9:55pm local time, ruining a wished peaceful night of the residents.

Nusrat Rahimi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior Affairs, said the attack targeted Green Village compound, a residential area for foreign nationals and offices.

A fuel station in the area caught fire in the explosion, he added.

According to Rahimi, at least five perpetrators were involved in the attack, who were taken down after Special Forces were deployed.

Afghan police rescued some 400 foreign nationals in the area, he said.

The Green Village compound was once targeted by a truck bomb explosion in January, where four people were killed and further 90 were wounded.

Taliban claimed responsibility the explosion, saying foreign forces were the target.
