Displaced Residents Urge for Security in Maidan Wardak

BAMYAN (The Killid Group) – Dozens of families from Jalrez and Behsood districts – who left their life and belongings behind and sheltered temporary in Bamyan province – urged Afghan government to ensure security in their home-province of Maidan Wardak.

Following an assault by the Taliban insurgents in Sar Cheshma and Siyah Pato district of Jalrez in Maidan Wardak province, some 60 families were displaced and entered Bamyan province as their safe haven.

They said left all their belongings behind, which were later set on fire by the Taliban, and moved to Bamyan province for protection.

“When the Taliban came [attacked], they started firing from everywhere. People were in a complete chaos and they left wherever they were: at the farm, in their house… People just took their children and some basic needs and walked away to Bamyan,” a displaced Maidan Wardak resident Ewaz said.

Meanwhile, Bamyani officials confirmed some 60 families, with a total of 400 people, have been displaced and entered Bamyan, yet the number is increasing.

Residents raise voice for security after the Taliban last week attacked Maidan Wardak province in central Afghanistan, where the battle with Afghan security forces and Public Uprising Forces lasted for a week.

Although war has drawn an end now, but security threats remain at its high alert in main highway connecting the province to Kabul, with some reports saying Taliban killed some passengers passing the route.
