LAGHMAN (The Killid Group) – Afghan National Defense Security Forces launched mopping-up operation to secure Kabul-Jalalabad highway and its surroundings, amid rising insecurities in eastern province, Laghman officials said.
Asadullah Dowlatzai, spokesman for the Laghman Governor, told The Killid, “today (Tuesday) morning, Afghan security forces, led by the National Army, launched mopping-up operation in a bid to secure Kabul-Jalalabad highway.”
The attempt is to provide utmost security of the main highway, as people flood in Afghan capital for the upcoming presidential elections on September 28, he added.
Kabul-Jalalabad highway is considered to be one of the most insecure route, where every now and then militant groups target forces’ convoy.
