21 Daesh Killed in Zabul Airstrikes

Afghan-led airstrikes in Zabul targeted sanctuaries of Daesh in Khak-e- Afghan and Wade Chopan districts of Zabul and killed 21 Daesh militants. Gul Mohammad, sergeant at Afghan National Army 205 Corps, said that Afghan security forces have started airstrikes targeting Daesh sanctuaries and the operation will continue until Daesh militants are totally wiped out of the province. He added that so far 21 Daesh militants have been killed and 7 others including a local commander of Daesh have injured. Omar Khan, secretary of provincial council, confirmed presence of Daesh militants in the province and asked the government to take drastic measure to eliminate Daesh from the province. He further stated that Daesh, Al-Qaeda militants, and other foreign extremist groups have converged in four northern districts of Zabul and they could pose serious threats to Southern and Northern provinces. Khak-e- Afghan is a district of Zabul which has not been under government control for the past 13 years.
