IEA Government ‘Inclusive’, Says Prime Minister

The prime minister said in his speech on Saturday that his government inherited an already collapsed economy and asked for the international aid and access to about $10 billion in funds frozen after the IEA took over the country in August.

The Islamic Emirate was not responsible for the country’s crisis, he said.

The former government under Ashraf Ghani was corrupt and damaged the country’s economic situation, the prime minister said.

On women, Mullah Akhund said the exclusion of women from work and girls from school “has saved women’s dignity.”

Afghanistan’s new rulers have yet to win international recognition.

The international community has conditioned its recognition of the new government on assurances that it will uphold human rights and inclusivity of government.
