Turkey and the Netherlands’ diplomatic feud deepened Sunday with the Turkish president accusing the NATO ally of fascism, and declaring the Dutch would “pay the price” for harming relations. Danish media reported that Danish Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen has stepped into the escalating row by announcing his government had postponed the visit of Turkish Prime Minister Yildirim. In a statement Danish PM Rasmussen said that “under normal circumstances it would be a pleasure for me to greet Prime Minister Yilderim in Copenhagen. Meanwhile Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told a ceremony in Istanbul, “Hey Holland! If you are sacrificing Turkish-Dutch relations for the sake of the elections on Wednesday, you will pay a price.”
