Security officials of Ghazni police said that they are committed to fight against corruption and no one shall pay bribe to any police officer illegally. Gen. Aminullah Amarkhail, chief of Ghazni police, said that they have dismissed duties of eight district police chief along with tens of other low-ranking officials for corruption and extortion. He added that their cases have been handed over to the justice system. Amarkhail stressed that identifying corrupt individuals in police ranks stipulates people’s cooperation and asserted that citizens should not pay any money in police check posts. Meanwhile media office of Ghazni Police Headquarters reported that 90 police officers who were addicted to drugs were dismissed. This follows as earlier some transportation companies complained of police extortion on Ghazni-Kandahar highway and protested for several days.
