Sahebjan, a police chief for the district of Nawbahar was killed as a roadside bomb went off in Shinkai village of Zabul province, said Gul Islam Seyal, a provincial governor’s spokesman.
The bomb blew up while being defused, according to the source.
No other casualties were reported.
Militant groups haven’t commented so far.
