Prince Philip of the Britain has voluntarily surrendered his driving license after a car crash last month, Buckingham Palace announced Saturday.
It comes after a car collision Philip escaped without injury on Jan. 17, as his car crashed by another with a women and child on board close to the royal’s Sandringham residence in eastern England.
“After careful consideration The Duke of Edinburgh has taken the decision to voluntarily surrender his driving license,” the palace said in a statement.
A 28-year-old women who was driving the other car suffered cuts to her knee and a women passenger, 45, which had a nine months newborn baby on board, sustained a broken wrist.
Philip suggesting low sun had affected his sight for the crush; also received a warning from the police for driving without a seatbelt a couple days after the crash.
Norfolk Police confirmed that Philip voluntarily surrendered his license on Saturday.
Philip occasionally appears with his wife Queen Elizabeth, 92, at official events, although he has retired from public life in 2017.
