This is while tens of thousands of people who lost their homes and shelter due to this earthquake in Turkey and Syria spent last night in cold weather.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced seven days of public mourning in this country to express his sympathy for the victims of this natural disaster.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden also expressed his sympathy to Erdogan in a phone call and announced the country’s readiness to help the earthquake victims.

The intensity of this earthquake, whose center was reported in Kahramanmaras province in southeast Turkey, was so strong that it was felt in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.

This area is located above the main fault lines and is often shaken by earthquakes. About 18,000 people were killed in similar strong earthquakes that shook northwestern Turkey in 1999.
