Richard Bennett posted on Twitter that the Islamic Emirate should respect the rights of Afghans and release Zarifa Yaqoubi, a women’s rights activist, and her four colleagues.
On the other hand, Clement Voule, the UN special rapporteur on the freedom of association and peaceful assembly, has also called the Islamic Emirate in a tweet, to release women’s rights activists.
Zarifa Yaqoubi was arrested along with four of her colleagues, on the 8th of November this year, during a press conference to announce the existence of the ‘Afghan Women’s Movement for Equality.
