More than hundred health workers have died in Afghanistan due to COVID-19 in the past two years, says health officials.

In 2020, as many as 97 health workers died while seven others lost their lives last year, said Javid Hazhir, spokesman for health ministry.

There was no death registered this year, said the spokesman.

Afghanistan registered the first COVID-19 case in early 2020.

So far, more than 7,656 have lost their lives since the outbreak entered the country.
