March 31 (The Killid Group) — Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al Othaimeen renewed his call to all leaders and parties in Afghanistan to work together for an urgent and permanent ceasefire and a reduction in violence.
In a statement, the OIC Secretary-General urged everyone to engage in a dialogue to reach comprehensive reconciliation and lasting peace within the framework of the Afghan-led peace process.
He reiterated the importance of all leaders and parties supporting the precautionary measures taken by Afghanistan to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Al Othaimeen’s remarks come amid the COVID-19 is spreading across Afghanistan and is considered a significant threat to the country.
According to the data provided by health ministry officials, so far, 174 people have been contracted with the pandemic.
