(TKG) − The U.S. and Taliban peace deal would be signed at the end of February that will pave the way for “intra-Afghan” talks, media quoted a Taliban negotiating member.
The U.S. and the Taliban will sign the peace agreement by the end of February of the ongoing year during a ceremony in Doha, Qatar, news agencies quoted the group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahed, as well as deputy head of its political office Abdul Salam Hanafi. Mujahed on Monday.
Following the U.S-Taliban deal, the “intra-Afghan” talks will take place but only after the peace deal is in place and the release of the Taliban prisoners, Hanafi added.
According to sources as quoting Hanafi, President Ashraf Ghani’s administration and the U.S. will release 5,000 Taliban prisoners in exchange for 1,000 Afghans imprisoned by the militant group.
The deal to end United States’ 18-years war follows an agreement with the Taliban on Friday for them to reduce hostilities and violence for at least a week.
