Bamyan (The Killid) – Provincial governor rang the bell for new school year with motto “Better Education, Better Future” in central province of Bamyan.

Last year, more than AFN800,000m is spent on provincial school facilities, but sources said administrative corruptions and misconduct on teachers emolument in some districts have caused the city to a measurable defeat in this area.

Mohammad Taher Zahir, provincial governor, said he has fought against corruptions and shall stand firm on this year as well.

According to sources, more than 60 schools do not have shelter, and thus the students are obtaining education at residential homes, masjids and even under the tents.

Meanwhile, a number of provincial council members confirmed 50 percent of schools lack facilities.

According to officials of Bamyan education directorate, some powerful and political leaders’s intervention in this area are of driving factor for lacking educational facilities.

In Bamyan, 136,000 students are registered for education, of which women sum up to 46 percent of the statistic.

It comes at a time Herat province of West Afghanistan rang the bell for new schooling season, marking the first day of schools for year 1398 of Afghan calendar Saturday.

Officials during the launching ceremony of schools said, “In this year, 100,000 new enrollees have been registered at schools throughout the province.
