Coronavirus: Afghanistan Reports 79 New Infections

Health authorities in Afghanistan announced Monday (January 18) the country has registered 79 new COVID-19 infections and three related deaths in the past 24 hours.

According to Afghan health ministry, at least three more patients have died after contracting the disease, pushing the toll of fatalities to 2,346.

Also, as many as 79 new cases of infection were reported in the country, bringing the nationwide case count to 54,141.

The new infection cases were registered in Kabul, Herat, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Paktia, Nimroz, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Logar, Laghman, Kunar, Panjshir, Khost, Zabul and Nooristan provinces.

Some 46,411 patients have recovered from the virus since the outbreak first appeared in China entered the country.

At least 1,849 suspected cases were processed during the last 24-hour-period.
