COVID-19 in Afghanistan: Cases Top 53,000

The coronavirus total case count hit 53,011 in Afghanistan after it recorded 102 more coronavirus infections over the last 24 hours.

At least 102 people tested positive for the coronavirus pandemic within the past 24 hours, said the health ministry Monday, adding the country recorded seven COVID-19 deaths during the same period.

The new patients died from the illness pushed the total deaths to 2,237, according to ministry’s figures.

Also, 168 patients having been contracted with the COVID-19 disease have recovered over the past 24 hours, bringing the toll of coronavirus recoveries to 42,530.

At least 1,575 tests were carried out during the past 24 hour period.

Worldwide, 1,838,960 have died from the deadly disease and over 84.6 million more have been infected since the start of an outbreak that first appeared in Wuhan, China, in early December.
